HOW WELLNESS AFFECTS YOUR BUSINESSWhy Exercise Is Important to Your Employees
Obesity is becoming a huge problem among Americans because we love "convenient" things, and have become lazy. As a business owner you are probably thinking so what? What does obesity have to do with the way I run my business? If my employee is doing their job, then it doesn't affect me. But that's where you are wrong. There are many reasons why it is important to encourage your employees to exercise. Let's take a look at some of them.
1. Exercise along with a healthy diet gives employees the energy they need to get through the work day. It has been statistically proven that by getting at least 30 minutes of continuous exercise during the day improves a person's mental and physical well being.
2. The average American today is working about 2000 hours a year. They are working longer days and more hours, which can lead to a lot of stress and a lack of motivation in the workplace. Exercise contributes to maintaining a healthy weight and how well a person sleeps at night. Exercise releases certain endorphins which help with stress and well being.
3. Not only is exercise good for your mental and physical well being, but without it, it can cost businesses money.
Overweight employees are more likely to file for worker’s compensation. Employees that are physically unfit tend to also be physically unwell. This can result in being absent more often and more medical claims. Statistics have shown that overweight individuals miss ten more days than fit and trim employees. Businesses will also see that physically unfit employees will also cost them more money when it comes to health care. Overweight employees cost their employers anywhere from fifty dollars to two thousand dollars a year because of health care costs and loss of productivity. Do you wish you could see more production out of your employees? Would you like to work in a more energetic, happy, and fun environment? Do you work with coworkers that could be in better shape? Do you have someone at work you have been trying to get to the gym? Would you like to earn a FREE month here at AFC?
