JUNIOR TENNIS PROGRAM
Kevin Ryan Total Tennis JUNIOR ACADEMY

Our Beginner Programs are divided into two groups. Our youngest players attend the Super Squirts (ages 3-5) or Little Smashers (ages 6-8). In these clinics the students rehearse basic motor skills and improve overall coordination. They learn racquet skills and basic footwork. The emphasis of these clinics is FUN, so our instructors utilize a variety of teaching aids including: low compression balls, targets, balloons, ropes, mini nets, etc. Children who attend these clinics are learning both fundamental skills and good tennis habits.

The Intermediate Programs are divided into three groups. Children who are between the ages of 6-8 and have completed one year of Little Smashers are invited to join our Big Smashers group. Also, we offer the Future Stars clinic (ages 9-11) and the Pre-Tourney clinic (ages 12-14). In these clinics the students continue to develop their racquet skills and begin to learn the basics of point play. They will gain proficiency in basic stroke production and ball control, as they begin to learn various spins. This program also teaches advanced footwork, court sense awareness, ball anticipation, and tactics.

Advanced Players are divided into two groups, High School and Tourney. These students have played tennis for several years. They are older players (12+), who are looking to compete either in tournaments or on high school teams. These clinics combine tactics and technique. Players will be taught advanced biomechanics in order to improve their strokes and serves. This program emphasizes weapon development, error management, and advanced point patterns. Students will be trained to compete against various styles of play. Pros also address tennis-specific speed & agility, balance training, and overall conditioning.

Our Elite Players are invited to join the Pre-Collegiate Clinic. These students are serious competitors who are already participating in tournament play. These clinics are designed to teach the 4 zones of the court. Players will be trained in attacking and counter-attacking skills. Tactical play will be divided into offense, defense and neutral shot-making. Students will continue learning advanced point patterns. They will be exposed to momentum training, which will aid them in closing out matches. Players will also engage in mental & emotional control development training, which will help them think clearly under stressful match situations.
