Introducing a Safer Way to Get Results at the Gym

We know that our members and local community might have questions about how AFC Fitness is changing and adapting during the COVID-19 period. Over the past several months, our fitness centers have gone under extraordinary changes from renovations to additional health and safety procedures to ensure that we are keeping members and employees safe. The reopening procedures and health standards that have been put into place were worked on as part of a task force with the National Fitness Council and were reviewed by the CDC. To see our reopening procedures and the changes made over the last few months, visit the new COVID-19 gym safety guidelines page on our website.

Now that we reopened on June 26th, we’re more serious about your health and safety than ever before. We are lucky enough to have two huge fitness complexes, including having several studios at each location. Our Bala Cynwyd facility is over 110,000 square feet, while the Feasterville location is over 88,000 square feet. With all of this space available we rethought our layouts to allow for social distancing. We’ve also made accommodations all over the buildings to make sure that all members are able to work out comfortably, with the space they need, while keeping a safe distance away from others. The majority of these changes will be notated with signage and decals. One example is the decals that have been placed on our studio floors – pic shown below. These decals are placed to be used as a guide when setting up the room. They allow for a minimum of 6 feet distance on all sides. We found this to be an easy way to actually see the distance between people, not as a must stand here placement. This will allow class instructors to adjust as needed, but making sure that distance is kept, as well as help us determine a new limited class size. Another example are decals on our cardio machines. These decals, with green meaning go and red meaning stop, will show members which pieces of equipment can be used, to keep everyone apart.

Throughout the closure phase and the reopening of our clubs, we have updated our social media accounts regularly with club information, pics, and safety procedures. The best way to receive updates as they happen is to follow us at Facebook.com/afcfitness and Instagram.com/afcfitness.

As we move forward, we will continue to adapt, follow new guidance from the CDC, and listen to members’ feedback. Our goal is to make sure everyone maintains a healthy lifestyle by working out, staying safe and keeping their distance. We are prepared to welcome you back to the gym! Start a Free 30 Day Trial here.
