Our Strength Fitness classes challenge your whole body with resistance training that builds muscle, boosts energy, and strengthens both body and mind—one rep at a time.
Classes Descriptions
Strength

In this class you will use our barbells, dumb bells and other equipment to do strength training movements such as squats, bicep curls, and shoulder presses to strengthen and tone your entire body.
Super Strength
F
This class is designed to improve strength and endurance. Super Strength will build muscle and burn calories by using weights, isometric movements, plyometrics, and calisthenics.
Strictly Strength
R
Strictly Strength combines full-body strength training with bursts of cardio. This class is designed to tone your body through slow movements using weights and improve endurance with low impact cardio.
Cardio Strength
F
Cardio Strength is an aerobic and strength conditioning workout class. This class includes circuit training, cardio exercise, bodyweight exercises, and finishes with core training and stretching for a complete workout. Improve the strength of your heart and body in this combination class.
Barre Strength & Core

Barre Strength & Core is taught off the barre and blends Pilates, Yoga, and strength for a challenging yet low impact workout that reshapes the entire body.

Barbell Remix
B | R
This strength workout will use a barbell and traditional weight room exercises for full body resistance training. The music will be our motivation and inspiration. The intensity is up to you, you decide how much weight to add to your barbell. You can expect high repetitions, high energy, and tons of fun! All levels welcome.
Sculpt: Booty & Arms
R
Target, tone, and tighten! This focused strength-training class zeroes in on the glutes, hips, and arms to help build lean muscle and improve definition. Using a mix of resistance exercises, bodyweight moves, and weights, you’ll challenge your lower body and upper body in every session. All fitness levels welcome—come ready to sculpt and sweat!
Big Rig Workout

Big Rig Bootcamp is a circuit style class that emphasizes Tabata Intervals (20 seconds of activity, 10 seconds of rest). In short, more work, less rest. We will be utilizing the TRX, Landmines, Battle ropes, Kettlebells, Bands and more.
Glutes and Core

This fun workout specifically targets the abdomen and glutes! Throughout the class you will activate these areas as the focus is very much on toning and tightening.
Train Like an Athlete

Train Like an Athlete will focus on building strength, speed, mobility, and conditioning. This workout will provide the necessary variety to improve your overall physique, health, and athletic performance. Incorporating explosive movements to spark your training up a notch.
Boot Camp

Designed to get you lean fast! The class will consist of Cardio, Strength, and Plyometric drills to build muscle and decrease body fat! All classes have low impact modifications to accommodate Medium to Advance levels.
Spin & Arms

This 45-minute ride will combine spinning and upper body exercises using light weights. A full body workout appropriate for all fitness levels!
Sculpt & Shred

The ultimate class designed to strengthen and sculpt every muscle from head to toe. If you are looking to shred some weight while toning and tightening, this class will take you there!
Barre Strength

Barre Strength combines strength training, flexibility, and low-impact cardio to improve overall fitness, balance, core strength, posture, and wellness. All levels welcome!

BAR Mix

A fun, full body workout that blends strength and balance! This class mixes body bars, dumbbells, barre inspired moves, core work, and balance training for a fresh twist on traditional barre. Great for all fitness levels.
WOD

The term WOD refers to the Workout of the Day, a carefully structured exercise routine that varies daily. Each WOD will includes a combination of strength training, cardiovascular exercises, and functional movements designed to promote overall fitness.
Total Body Conditioning

Total Body Conditioning will incorporate strength exercises and cardio segments using a variety of equipment. This class is intended to provide total fitness and overall toning by working every major muscle group in one workout. The aerobic component helps burn calories, while the strength exercises help build or maintain muscle mass which burns calories even when you're not working.
Functional Mobility

This class is designed to improve posture, flexibility, functional strength and balance. With options for all fitness levels, the class combines elements of Pilates, Yoga, resistance training, and more. Come for the challenge; leave feeling energized- body and mind.
L.I.I.T.
F
LIIT, a play on HIIT (high intensity interval training), is a daily fitness program of low impact interval training for a high impact workout. Split between sweat-inducing cardio and full body strength training utilizing light weights and your own body weight, LIIT is a great workout for anyone, anywhere.
Mat Sculpt

This dynamic, total-body workout fuses the best of Strength Training, Pilates, Barre, Yoga, and cardio into one powerful sculpt session. Expect a fun, functional mix of movement designed to tone muscles, improve flexibility, build endurance, and enhance your mind-body connection. You'll rotate through a variety of equipment to keep your body challenged and your mind engaged. Come ready to move and sweat!
Cardio Interval Training

Interval training alternates between periods of high and low intensity exercise. This class will incorporate body weight exercises, bursts of cardio, and a variety of equipment for a full body workout! All levels welcome.
Bosu Barre

Everything you know and love about a traditional Barre class with a twist. Like traditional barre class, this will be a blend of Pilates, Yoga, and dance to help participants lengthen as they strengthen. Strategic use of the Bosu ball will place an emphasis on core strength and overall balance. This class will be a low impact full body workout. All fitness levels welcome.
Low Impact Cardio Kick & Core

Get ready to punch, kick, and crunch your way to a stronger body—without the high impact! This energizing class blends low-impact cardio kickboxing moves with targeted core work to boost endurance, improve balance, and tone your midsection. Core & Stretch

This 45-minute class you will engage in a mix of strengthening and flexibility exercises that leave you feeling both energized and relaxed. Core & Stretch can offer a balanced approach to fitness by enhancing both strength and flexibility, which are essential for overall health, injury prevention, and daily function.

Yoga Sculpt

Yoga Sculpt incorporates small hand weights, cardio, and bodyweight strength work in a yoga flow to amp things up and break a sweat! Work all the major muscle groups for a full-body workout with plenty of time to stretch it out and settle into a sweet Savasana.
Ballet Barre Fusion

Learn Basic Ballet technique in this low impact fusion style class. This class will help to improve your posture, balance, flexibility, and overall strength utilizing light weights, balls, and mat work.

Power Flow Yoga

Power yoga, also known as power vinyasa yoga, is a dynamic form of yoga. It places emphasis on building strength and so expect a workout at a power yoga class.
All Levels Vinyasa Yoga

All Levels Vinyasa Yoga is a traditional Vinyasa yoga class that features numerous modifications to make the practice accessible for yogis of all levels. During this class you will link movement and breath to attain balance of mind and body.
Seasoned Fit

Seasoned Fit is a class designed for active older adults. Focuses on strengthening muscles and increasing range of movement for daily life. Participants will use hand-held weights, resistance bands, balls, and a chair for seated exercises and/or standing support.
Silver Sneakers Classic

Silver Sneakers Classic will move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase strength and range of motion. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a Silver Sneakers ball are offered for resistance. A chair is used for support.


Aqua Tone

A Resistance-based workout using all major muscle groups to improve day-to-day movements. A class focusing on strengthening and toning. All Levels
Arthritis Water Aerobics
F
This water class allows you to workout in the water excess strain on your joints and muscles. This gentle class activities are in warm water, with guidance from an Arthritis Foundation certified instructor, will help you gain strength and flexibility.
Aqua Tone Up
F
A high energy, but low impact water fitness class that combines strength training and cardiovascular conditioning exercises that will challenge your muscles and build your stamina.
High Intensity Water Workout

Get wet and sweat with our Deep H2O Challenge! This class is designed to build up your endurance without adding extra stress to your joints.

The Group Fitness classes at AFC Bala are my jam. I prefer to workout in a group setting, enjoying the interaction between class members and instructors. Our instructors motivate me as well as keep me safe by correcting my form. Meghan brings energy, music and new moves to every class she teaches. She started at AFC teaching an aerobics dance class which I loved. I am currently loving her Barre classes, Sculpt and Shred and Core and Stretch. Her class focuses on all muscle groups as well as time to stretch. I take a strength class with Charlene who puts us through exercises to build muscle and tone our bodies. She constantly walks around the room giving encouragement and correction when necessary. We work with different equipment each week. Rick teaches Spin. He is part D.J., motivational speaker, and chair dancer with great music. I can’t help but sweat every class. Kristin is my Mat Pilates teacher. Her class is more Zen (after Spin), which is the perfect addition to my training. Her music choice is wonderful and she always challenges us to move our bodies to stretch, lengthen and tone. Core and more (aka: high intensity) with Olivia is fun as she uses her music, singing and dancing around to distract us from the challenging workout. Her 3 minutes of EMOM (every minute on the minute) is epic. Jill is now changing up her routines to keep us on our toes for Barre class. Each instructor reminds me to breath, hydrate, modify, if needed and challenge myself. Thanks to Kristin who is always listening to member’s suggestions and looking for instructors to best meet our needs.
